UPTOWN — A Rogers Park community garden will sell ready-to-plant flowers and vegetables this weekend at a historic building in Uptown.
The Peterson Garden Project’s edible plant sale will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Gerber Building, 4620 N. Broadway. At the event, garden project volunteers will sell seedlings of various vegetables and other edible plants that are primed for planting as early as this weekend.
The group will sell tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumber, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and squash, among other vegetables. Herbs like basil, dill and chives will also be available, as will edible flowers like English daisy and calendula.
To help cut down on waste, attendees are asked to bring their own boxes to carry out the seedlings.
The Peterson Garden Project is hosting its plant sale at the 1920s Gerber Building, which was renovated ahead of it being occupied by co-op store Chicago Market.
Chicago Market is now running the Uptown Farmers Market at the site. The market will run 2:30-7 p.m. Wednesdays through November.
