For the second year, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is launching Plant Hope – a flower bulb fundraiser which promotes the importance of mental health in the community.

NAMI Midland County is selling flower bulbs to raise awareness of mental illness, fight stigma, and build better lives for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Flowers are known to provide many mental health benefits such as increasing happiness, reducing feelings of depression, and lessening anxiety; and they are earth friendly!

All flower bulbs are high-quality landscaping favorites and are selected for Mid-Michigan’s climate from a family-owned Michigan horticulture supplier.

To place an order, contact NAMI Midland County by June 30. Call 989-600-5052 or email namimidlandmi@gmail.com. Orders can also be made online at https://namimidland.weebly.com.

Flower bulbs will be available for free pick-up in the fall – in time for planting during Mental Illness Awareness Week, Oct. 3-9, and blooming next spring in commemoration of National Mental Health Awareness Month in May.

All proceeds of the flower bulb fundraiser will go to NAMI Midland County and will be used to provide programs and support groups free of charge so no one is alone on their mental health journey.
