It's been over a year since New Village Arts (NVA) performers have been able to get on stage for a live event.

Now, they are bringing the stage to the Carlsbad Flower Fields for an al fresco theatrical experience.

“We’re going to get to feature these brilliant San Diego based artists right here in the Flower Fields, in front of an audience. Live, but safe,” said Kristianne Kurner, the executive artistic director for NVA.

Kurner said NVA will be putting on performances from now until October with different shows and artists every weekend.

“Performances these first two weekends are on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The performances start at 6:30 p.m. We recommend people arrive around 5 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to enjoy the Flower Fields,” she said.

The Flower Fields close at 6 p.m. and NVA performances begin at 6:30 p.m., giving patrons the opportunity to enjoy the sunset at the Flower Fields, while also enjoying live entertainment.

When the flowers are done blooming in May, NVA plans to expand to larger musicals and performances until October.

Zackary Wolfe, one of the performers said this opportunity is also helping all the behind the scenes crew return to their craft, “It does feel a little weird to be somewhat back, but I feel safe and I'm sure the audience will feel safe, and we're just going to have a blast,” said Wolfe.

Tickets are now available for the first weekend of performances on the New Village Arts website and ticket prices do include admission into the flower fields.

A full schedule will be announced later this month.

Singer Jasmine January said the return of live performances are just what the community needs as things begin to normalize, “It's going to be exciting, it's going to be emotional, and fun. I think we all need that relief of just breath and happiness and smiles. You gotta come.”
