Southern Indiana flower farm shares unique blooms across Kentuckiana - WLKY Louisville

A flower farm in Southern Indiana found new way to share their beautiful blooms with people during the pandemic.Eastward Gardens is a Certified Naturally Grown, veganic farm in Hardinsburg, Indiana."We use no synthetic fertilizers, no herbicides, no fungicides, anything that would be damaging to soil or to you," said co-owner Larry Lesher.Larry and Michelle Lesher are the stewards growing a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers.During the first part of the year, they focus their work on growing beautiful flowers to sell at farmers markets and pop-up shops in Louisville.Ranunculus are all the rage on their farm right now and at the pop-ups they've hosted at Rainbow Blossom in St. Matthews."These flowers are my favorite flower," Michelle Lesher said. "They're only going to bloom six weeks."Michelle makes bouquets for pop-ups and to sell online. She sold out of flowers in one hour at their last pop-up."They are just an amazing flower," Michelle Lesher said. "They kind of remind me of a paper mache rose. They have a really long vase life, I think that's honestly why most people love them."During the pandemic, weddings and events were canceled so Eastward Gardens started offering home deliveries after they were left with tons of flowers from florists not buying."It was so successful and people loved it so much we just started doing it this year too," Michelle Lesher said.

Michelle makes bouquets for pop-ups and to sell online. She sold out of flowers in one hour at their last pop-up.

Michelle described their 16-acre farm as a little slice of heaven, which is fitting, since the name "Eastward Gardens," stems from a Bible verse.

The couple takes pride in using only plant-based products to keep their produce and flowers nourished and safe for customers.
