Whatever the occasion, sending flowers to friends and family is a beautiful way to show your love - but particularly right now, when we're all physically separated as a result of the third Covid-19 lockdown.
The hardships we’re all facing means that it's more important than ever that you can trust your chosen florist to deliver a beautiful bouquet safely and on time, so we’ve rounded up our pick of the best online flower delivery services that are guaranteed to bring some joy to someone's day.
How we test
We asked three mystery shoppers, each based in a different region of the UK, to order identical bouquets from 18 brands. Each company was judged on the ease of its ordering process, the quality of its delivery service, and the ‘wow factor’ of its flowers.
Behold, our pick of the bunch:

Haute
hauteflorist.co.uk
£25.00
Haute earns the coveted top spot for being a brilliant all-rounder. We enjoyed browsing its wide range of hand-tied bouquets, letterbox and hat box flowers. Most arrangements are also available for Sunday delivery, with luxury optional extras including soaps and champagne.
Our all-white bouquet arrived within the four-hour time slot we were given on the delivery day, looking exactly like its promotional photo. It had been packaged carefully to prevent any damage, with a sachet of flower food and a helpful care guide waiting inside the elegant box.
M&S has more than 100 impressive bouquets and plants for your perusal, along with many appealing add-ons. The ordering process is as slick as can be and there’s an intuitive app for speed and convenience.
Our stylish bouquet from the Collection range arrived promptly, within the one-hour time slot we were given on the delivery day, and lived up to expectations. If only M&S offered same-day delivery...

Flowerbx
flowerbx.com

Flowerbx only offers single-variety bouquets, but there’s such a huge choice of species and colours, from ivory roses to black raspberry ranunculus, that your loved one’s favourite is sure to be among them. The high-end website features plenty of inspirational imagery and its flowers are just as impactful in real life, too.
Our snapdragons arrived well-presented in an elegant carrier bag, but no narrowed-down time slot was offered on delivery day, risking them being left outside in delicate packaging. You can adjust the number of stems to fit your budget, but some varieties are only available in London.

Bloom & Wild
bloomandwild.com
£50.00
It’s impossible to find fault with Bloom & Wild’s ordering process. The website is easy to use and the free app is ideal when you’re on the go. There’s a substantial range of hand-tied and letterbox blooms to pick from, plus some popular plants.
Our sample bouquet fulfilled all its promises and we liked the variety of stems. It arrived on our allotted day with comprehensive care tips and two sachets of flower food for longevity. Hand cream and Prestat chocolates are among the high-end optional extras, but the delivery options could be broader.
Roses are known for their transience, but this white dozen bloomed for an impressive two weeks in our vase. They arrived still mostly in bud, yet open enough for initial impact. Floom’s website was easy to order from, as was its accompanying app. Like Interflora, bouquets are sent from local florists, and in this case, the choice will vary according to your giftee’s postcode.
Our sample bunches were delivered in a timely fashion, but one was incorrectly addressed by the courier and ended up with a neighbour. Flower food was included though and the handwritten gift message was thoughtful.

Waitrose & Partners Florist
waitroseflorist.com
£35.00
Here’s another foodie favourite that also sells lovely flowers. There are over 40 bouquets and plants available, most of which offer Sunday delivery. Our white roses came from the Foundation range, which helps fund projects that support the Kenyan workers who grow and transport the flowers.
We received more than the advertised 32 stems, thanks to a special offer, and they looked full and fresh. They arrived on our chosen delivery day, but a time slot wouldn’t have gone amiss, especially as they could arrive as early as 7am.
