Martin Scorsese (right) and Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear met in 2019 and talked about the film adaptation of “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
An episode of the OETA documentary series “Back in Time” is titled "Osage Murders — The Reign of Terror.” It's available for streaming, and it will cover territory that will be explored in the Martin Scorsese-directed film "Killers of the Flower Moon."
The best-selling book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” was released in April 2017, detailing what was known in Oklahoma as the “Osage Reign of Terror.”
Pawhuska is expected to be among film sites for “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Coming in the future to a theater near you: “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Available now: An OETA documentary about the Osage Reign of Terror.
“Back in Time “ is an OETA documentary series that showcases people, situations, eras and events that helped shape Oklahoma history. An episode that debuted this month is titled “Osage Murders — The Reign of Terror.” It can be streamed at OETA.tv/backintime or viewed on OETA at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.
Here’s an episode description:
“When the Osage nation was forced to move to Indian Territory, their new reservation was a sea of grass with rocky outcroppings. What nobody knew was that just below the surface were the richest deposits of oil and gas in the country. When it was discovered, suddenly every member of the tribe was a multimillionaire.
“In the 1920s, the streets of Pawhuska and Fairfax were thick with grifters and thieves of every stripe. All of them had dreams of cheating or stealing millions in Osage oil money and many turned to murder.
“From 1910 to 1930, over a hundred Indians died under suspicious circumstances in what the Osage call the Reign of Terror.”
Geoffrey Standing Bear, principal chief of the Osage Nation, reminded in a recent interview that the Osages have known about these events since they occurred. But it took a 2017 best-selling nonfiction book (“Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI”) by David Grann to educate the masses about this chapter of Oklahoma history.
“There have been other books about it, but his struck a chord,” Standing Bear said. “I believe that’s because of his skill as a writer and also as a researcher.”
Standing Bear, who read “Killers of the Flower Moon” as soon as it was published, said he couldn’t put the book down. “I wondered if it was because it is so well-written or is it because it is about Osages? My answer was it was both.”
The story was so compelling that “Killers of the Flower Moon” is being transformed into a filmed-in-Oklahoma movie.
Apple won a bidding war to partner with Paramount Pictures to produce “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese will direct and will reunite with frequent collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.
In the summer of 2019, Scorsese scouted locations in Oklahoma (he posted photos to Instagram) and confirmed the film would be shot on the same turf where the historical events occurred. The Osage News reported that Scorsese, while in Oklahoma, met with Standing Bear for two-and-a-half hours on the Osage Nation campus.
Standing Bear, during a Wednesday phone interview, said he hasn’t talked to any representatives from the movie since. To stay abreast of developments, he relies on Chad Renfro, who is serving as an Osage Nation ambassador to the film.
In January 2020, it was reported that “Killers of the Flower Moon” would begin filming in Pawhuska in March of that year. The pause button was hit when COVID-19 arrived.
A hint about a revised shooting schedule arrived when Norman-based Freihofer Casting, in announcing a virtual open casting call for extras, said filming would occur in the Tulsa, Bartlesville and Osage County areas from spring to late summer 2021. The call said the extras would appear in the major motion picture “Gray Horse,” which has been reported to be the working title for Scorsese’s movie.
Standing Bear said there’s a lot of excitement in the community. When the movie stars arrive, what will be the reaction of residents and tourists? In 2012, “August: Osage County” was shot in Pawhuska and Bartlesville. Some actors wanted space and privacy. On the other end of the spectrum, George Clooney, a producer, was out and about with the public, according to Standing Bear. The central Oklahoma town of Wakita had a similar experience during the making of “Twister.”
“I’m real interested to see how this group interacts with the community,” Standing Bear said. “But we will all give them as much space as they need.”

Asked if there is any benefit for Osage Nation, Standing Bear said “not monetarily.” Continuing, he said the benefit is trying to work with the movie to promote authenticity in the clothing of the era and the use of tribal language. He said he expressed this to Paramount even before Scorsese came aboard.
“We offered our language department as a resource,” Standing Bear said. “I told them how important it is to portray us as accurately as possible. I understand it’s a movie. But we don’t want the Osage just to be a bunch of dead bodies lying around. When Mr. Scorsese got involved in the project, he picked up on that theme because he had talked to some of the Paramount people, especially one of the Paramount producers.”
Standing Bear said he was assured by Scorsese that the movie will be one the Osage “will be proud of.” He said Scorsese mailed him a DVD of his 2016 film “Silence,” a based-in-Japan historical drama. Another of his films was 1997’s “Kundun,” which was set in Tibet. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has experience in capturing other cultures on film.
Standing Bear said he has not seen a script and that’s fine.
“The Osage Nation, this is not our movie,” he said. “This is their movie. They paid for the rights to the book from David Grann. David is still in contact with us and checks in every now and then. He talks to (people from) the movie as much as he can. But he also says, ‘It’s their movie. They bought the book rights.’ Mr. Scorsese changes the script as he films to fit his vision. We are fully supportive of the movie, and we are encouraged by Mr. Scorsese’s attitude toward us and being respectful to us, which is good to see.”
The Osage News reported Scorsese became interested in “Killers of the Flower Moon” after being given a copy of the book by his manager. During a 2020 interview with Empire magazine, Scorsese talked about his most recent film (2019’s “The Irishman”) and talked about finding a “spark” for his next film, which would be “Killers of the Flower Moon.” He said the pandemic has made it almost obligatory to go find that spark.
“Because everything else is gone,” he told Empire. “Normal life is not there anymore. So what do you have? You have people you love, family and, you hope, a creative spark, and maybe that can be rekindled for a new film.”
Standing Bear was asked what he hopes will become of the “Killers of the Flower Moon” movie project. He said he would like to see how people all over the country and worldwide will react “and not so much about the Osage, but about the story that is going to be told about people.”
Standing Bear recalled part of his 2019 conversation with Scorsese. Standing Bear told Scorsese he had talked with some of the older folks who knew the ringleader of a murder ring responsible for Osage deaths. Standing Bear shared with Scorsese that the ringleader was described as friendly and helpful. That jibed with research for the movie, according to Scorsese, who told Standing Bear one thing that attracted them to the project was that someone described in such a way could still be so sinister.
Standing Bear said Grann pointed out that it wasn’t just a matter of who was involved in the murders. It was who wasn’t involved. There was complicity.
“I would like to see people remember that there are good people and bad people, and if you let the bad people dominate, then people can be complicit in evil things,” Standing Bear said.
“So it’s important to support the good because then people can be complicit in the good things. You can see that anywhere, but here, in this area, it was such a highlight because of the money that was, and somewhat still is, around and people taking advantage of weaker people and how those who want to be selfish can end up dominating and get away with it. Remember, those murders were going on for a long time before the FBI broke up that one murder ring and some of those murder rings continued after — well after. The Osage know this.”
Standing Bear, reflecting on his 2019 Scorsese meeting, said it was incredible to talk with a world-class moviemaker about the creative process, from script to filming to editing (where much of the movie is made).
“What we are going to see here for a few months is just one part of making a great movie,” Standing Bear said. “It is going to be very interesting.”

Loki and Simba
Loki (left) and Simba are a bonded pair of males with an estimated birthdate of 3/22/2020. They are black and white. Loki sometimes walks a little strangely due to something that happened in his first home, but he gets around just great and runs and plays. He was X-rayed at Feline Specialties and nothing was identified as a problem. Simba probably has a tear duct blocked in his right eye, so he does have some discharge from that eye, but it only needs to be wiped daily with a warm washcloth. He does have eye drops if needed. Both cats are very sweet and loving, although a little shy at first. They came to StreetCats because of an apartment fire and their owners had to move and could not keep them. They have not been around children but are OK with dogs and other cats. These two really need a loving home together as the first year of their lives wasn’t so great until coming into StreetCats.
All cats have tested negative for FeLeuk/FIV and are current on rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. All StreetCats kitties have Home Again microchips implanted and are registered at no charge to the owner.
Adoption inquiries can be made at StreetCats, 60th Street and South Sheridan Road, or email cats@streetcatstulsa.org . To see more StreetCats, visit streetcatstulsa.org .

Button
Little Button came to us not long ago with her sister Bow. She is approximately 9 weeks old and a lab/border collie mix (we think!). She is very sweet, playful and already listening well for one so young!
She is used to being around big dogs and, as most puppies, should do well with cats. Kids and puppies are just a given! This adorable baby will make the right family a wonderful addition! Button will be fully vaccinated and microchipped and her adoption will cover her spay procedure when she gets a few months older. Button is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Lucky has a huge personality! She is quite the diva and wants to be the center of your attention. She is not a fan of other animals and needs to be the only pet in the home. Lucky is about 4½ years old and has been spayed, vaccinated, FeLV/FIV tested (negative), microchipped and is current on parasite prevention.

Kavik
Hi! My name is Kavik (it means Wolverine), but I am far from. I am the sweetest boy of my siblings. I love soft blankets and being held. I’m not a small boy at just 13 weeks and almost 30 pounds. I am said to be a huskador (husky and lab mix), but I have the coolest colors of my pack. I love to play with my siblings, and I even try to play with the cats. And my foster mom says I have been super good with my potty training because I haven't made one mess in the house! I would love to come play at your house too! Kavik will be neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated in the coming month. Kavik is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Ollie
Ollie is an extra large red tabby with white. His birthdate is estimated as 12/11/2014 and he weighed in at 19.14 pounds. He just lost his forever home because his owner has to leave to take care of elderly relatives and he couldn’t go along. He hasn’t lived with cats before, but he has lived with a golden retriever and they were pretty good buddies. The youngest child he’s been around was 12 years old. His former owner said he is happy, bossy, sweet, cuddly and can be independent. He loves chin scratches and treats. He doesn’t scratch furniture and she said he had no behavioral problems. Despite his size, he jumps up on things and hangs out on top of the cages in the Big Cat Room in a hidey hole. His blood work showed he’s in excellent condition and he just had a dental cleaning.
All cats have tested negative for FeLeuk/FIV and are current on rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. All StreetCats kitties have Home Again microchips implanted and are registered at no charge to the owner.

Scully
Scully is one of our "X-Files" kids who was found with her brother Mulder abandoned at a lake area. Even though they were starved, they were still friendly and craved positive attention. Approximately 5 months old, Scully, a Black Mouth Cur/Staffordshire Terrier mix is around 25 pounds. She is an energetic and sweet puppy who LOVES kids and other dogs. We think she would be good with cats, especially as young as she is. She does pretty well in the crate with some accidents, though we feel if she was able to go out in shorter periods, she would perfect it quickly. She listens and obeys remarkably well for a 5-month-old puppy too! Give this girl a chance to show you what a wonderful family “furmember” she can be! Scully will be spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated in the coming month. Scully is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Sesi
Hi, my name is Sesi (it means snow) and I have a BEAUTIFUL solid white coat. I’m the only girl of my litter, and my foster ma says it’s a tough job, as I demand all the love (which I get, of course). I’m a sweet girl and love to play. I’ll do anything for a treat, even sit and lay down, which at 10 weeks old, I hear that’s an accomplishment. I’m told I’m a huskador (husky/lab mix), so obviously I’m very smart and playful.
Sesi is a young pup and will be vaccinated, spayed and microchipped at the appropriate age. Sesi is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Ruffus
Ruffus came into StreetCats on Dec. 31, but he hopes he doesn’t have to stay long. He came to us off the streets (abandoned in an apartment complex) in early December, and now, he’s totally healthy to be adopted. His estimated birthdate is 12/7/2019, he’s a brown tabby with white, and he weighs about 11 pounds. He has a white fur strip that is just on his right side and stops on his backbone. He seems to be very sweet and is OK to be petted but probably not picked up. We don’t know if he’s been around other cats or around dogs, but he’s hanging out with Sonny and Luna.
All cats have tested negative for FeLeuk/FIV and are current on rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. All StreetCats kitties have Home Again microchips implanted and are registered at no charge to the owner.

Pudge
Pudge is the sweetest girl who wants to give lots of love to the right owner. She is approximately 2 years old, and she would be best in a home as the only dog and with a family who will spend time training her to be the perfect companion. She will sit and offer her paw for treats. Pudge loves to chase and retrieve her balls. She is great on a leash, and she is crate-trained. She loves to cuddle on the couch and in your lap (she thinks she is a lap dog). Pudge is housebroken but will pee if she gets in a situation that makes her anxious. She would prefer a female owner. She has lots of potential and lots of love to give to her “person.” Pudge is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Gloria
Smart and silly, Gloria is the perfect combo! This 2-year-old cattle dog mix is always up for a fun walk, a game of fetch, a nice chew or to learn a new trick. Gloria absolutely loves to play, but she can be serious when she needs to be — look at that laser focus in her eyes! She takes cues well and is quick to pick up on what's requested of her. She would do best in a family with older children (8+) who want to include her in their active lifestyle. Gloria has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and is current on parasite prevention.

Percy
Percy was one of the many dogs displaced by the flooding in Oklahoma. He now lives in the house, loves his crate and has not had one accident in the house. He even understands what “potty” means, sits on command, comes when called, walks great on a leash and has learned the commands “stop that” and “kennel up.” He’s so happy to be with children and he’s just happy to be with people! Percy is a gentle soul and a tender spirit. He is approximately 4 years old and is believed to be a lab/mastiff mixed breed. Percy is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Harold
Harold must have lived through many exciting adventures before we found him wandering with his friend, Frankie. He was severely underweight and had such a bad ear infection that one of his beautiful pointy ears will never stand back up. We think it gives him character though and definitely adds to his mysterious charm!
We sometimes call him Houdini because he must have used his 6 years of life to craft his escape skills! He can open gate latches with an expert flip of his nose and enjoys checking the perimeter of any fenced-in area that he's in. This guy is looking for a secure backyard and supervision outside as he settles into his new home or could do well in an apartment setting. He is currently living in a foster home and discovering all the indoor comforts that being a loved dog has to offer! He is often found lounging on the sofa or following his new human family from room to room. He is currently only being taken out on a leash because he's in an apartment, and he's doing just fine with that.
The perks of being a bit older, you don't need quite as much exercise! We believe Harold could fit easily into a variety of loving homes.
While he enjoys lounging outside, he is quiet and content when left alone in an apartment home! He doesn't seem to enjoy the company of rowdy young dogs but could likely do well with a calmer or mellow dog such as himself. He is a bit shy still so would do best in a home without children or with older ones. Even though he lived on the streets before he is such a gentleman and wouldn't ever even think of jumping on you but does still enjoy a good game of chase once he gets to know you.
At 6 years old and 54 pounds, he could stand to gain a little more weight and still has a lot of adventures left in him! Harold is looking for a forever home to help him continue his journey from street dog to spoiled companion!

Lupen
Lupen is a 1-year-old who gets along great with other dogs and loves to wrestle and play. He knows how to sit and lay down. He is fearful of new people, but with the right person who is willing to be patient with him, he will be your best friend. Unfortunately, he is more fearful of men; however, once he learns to trust as he has with his foster's brother, he will reciprocate. From his foster mom: "Lupen is a complete goofball. Belly rubs are his favorite kind of love, and he’s more than happy to curl up in bed with you. If you don’t mind, he will thank you with lots of kisses and wet willies. He has lots of energy so he will do best with someone willing to play with him on a daily basis. Lupen is currently living with a 10-year-old girl so we feel he will do well with or without kids in the home. He is crate-trained and does best when he has a toy to entertain him. Lupen has not been cat tested, but he is interested in birds in his yard." His current foster says he is a sweet little guy and has made great progress in their home. We are looking for a family that will be patient and loving. Lupen is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Diego
Just look at this sweet face! Diego has such a sweet spirit and loves being around people. He was found wandering the streets with his friend Dora. He is a pretty chill guy most of the time, but only being about 9 months old (he's a big guy), he still gets pretty excited about everything! He does well with other dogs, always wagging his tail to welcome and he seldom barks. He knows to wait to go potty outside and is ever so gentle taking treats and food. He is looking for his forever family! Diego is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Elaine
This brindle beauty is more than ready to bust out of the shelter and into a loving foster or forever home. She dreams of a life of comforts, snacks and love from her human family. At the shelter, she's become a staff favorite and can often be found out in our field on a walk, attempting to wedge herself into a lap while staff does computer work or showing off her training skills in the yard!
Elaine has got the petite back end, deep chest and energy typical of a boxer! She says the scales lie and often squeezes herself into a basket, bed or human lap sized for a much smaller dog than she. Her hilarious antics are sure to keep any family laughing. She enjoys running, jumping and lounging in the pool! She's so excited to be with her people that she jumps high into the air to smooch your face! While many think it's adorable, it would likely be too much for young children.
Elaine can be quite vocal when initially left alone in her kennel. She loves her people and doesn't want to see them go. For this reason, apartment homes might not be a great fit. Her new family will need to take some time off to help her settle in and feel comfortable in her new home before they leave her alone. Our TSPCA trainer can talk them through how to set sweet Elaine up for success!
Elaine has gone to dog parks and done well but can be a bit overwhelming one-on-one so would need a tolerable or mellow canine sibling in a home. We also believe she'd be more than happy to be a spoiled only dog!
Elaine is a boxer mix. She is about 2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. She has been spayed, vaccinated, heart worm tested (negative), microchipped, and is current on parasite prevention.

Mr. Heckles
My name is Mr. Heckles, but my friends just call me Heckles. I’m a lifer here at CARE, meaning I was born into the rescue! I’m 2½ years old and so ready to find my forever family. I’m a little quirky, but I don’t think that means I don’t deserve an understanding family of my own. In fact, I’m patiently waiting for them to find me. I’m a pretty big guy weighing in at 91 pounds, and I’m a Great Pyrenees mix! I know how to sit, lay down, crawl, shake and even sit pretty! I walk well on a martingale collar too. I get a little nervous around new people and new dogs, but I do warm up. I may be a big guy, but I just can’t help that I get nervous, and I hope that doesn’t deter you from wanting to give me a shot. With my size, sometimes things scare me. I’m house- and crate-trained, and I think I would do best with grownups and bigger kids. The little ones sometimes have loud voices that make me nervous. I know that if I had a family that would love me and make me feel safe, I would be the very best loyal companion for my whole life. I really like to play fetch and go for car rides! Those are the best! But you know what’s better than a car ride? BELLY RUBS AND BEING BRUSHED! Boy do i love belly rubbins! If you want to meet me, please apply for me at carerescueok.org .
Mr. Heckles is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Oakley
Oakley is a 3-year-old male mastiff mix who is available for adoption through a private foster, sponsored by Altruism Inc. rescue. He loves the company of other dogs and is good with all people, but he would do best in a home with older children. Oakley is sweet, obedient and very smart! He knows many commands and has spent time in pup training. Based on his experience, it is believed that he needs a calmer home that has routine and structure. Oakley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention. Email jlthorn824@gmail.com to inquire further.

Giana
Giana was dumped in a rural area and is so happy to have been rescued! She adores people and wants to be near them always. While new things can make her a little nervous, she's easily encouraged and trusts her humans completely. She loves snacks and will be an easy-to-train addition to your family! Giana seems to do well with other dogs and settles down nicely indoors.
Giana is about 1½ years old and weighs about 51 pounds. She is spayed, vaccinated, heart worm tested, microchipped and is current on parasite prevention.

Johnny
Johnny is about 2 years old but acts like a happy bouncing 3-month-old! And his fur is as soft as a pup's! Johnny is a timid little guy, loud voices and new things still frighten him, so slow and steady wins his heart. He is working on his basic commands and already walks well on leash but needs more confidence-building. He could have a doggie friend but still needs some work on proper play and sharing. If you need a friend that’ll keep you laughing, come meet Johnny! Johnny is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Bonnie
Bonnie is a sweetheart! She’s about 3 years old and has a unique voice. Sometimes we call her the gremlin! She loves humans of all ages and sizes, and would love to have a child or two of her very own. Bonnie does not play well with other dogs or cats, so therefore she must be the only pet. But she has enough love for everyone! Bonnie is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Carlos
Carlos is approximately 18 months old and don’t let his size mislead you. This boy is possibly the most “chill” dog you will ever meet. He rarely barks, loves other dogs and is the perfect gentleman with a smile that will melt your heart. Carlos loves to give hugs and kisses if you let him, but mostly, he is simply looking or a family to love and to be loved. Carlos is comfortable in a crate but doesn’t mind getting in the car if you want a buddy to tag along. He even walks great on a leash. There are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe this sweet boy, but be assured he is as calm and well-behaved as any dog you will ever meet. Carlos is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Georgie
Meet Georgie! This young dane mix is a light 72 pounds of long legs and goofy smiles! Lost in midtown Tulsa, Georgie found himself a good Samaritan to charm. His old home was eventually found but unable to care for him so we were happy to welcome this handsome hunk into our program and get him ready for adoption!
In a past life, we suspect Georgie was a model, as he will often strike a pose and wait for you to notice him, and he's definitely been practicing his smile in the mirror because it's spot on. Like any dedicated model, he frequents the gym, where he's working on his muscular bod and his ability to leap into the air with all his feet off the ground. He says he's an all-natural beauty with a soft and beautiful cream-colored coat with many charcoal patches that he claims he didn't get from a salon! He hasn't let it go to his head though and is happy to ask for cuddles on the couch, let you know when he needs to out outside to potty, and he's eager to learn obedience cues and tricks.
Standing as tall as a small pony, Georgie can scale a 4-foot fence easily so he needs a more secure backyard or supervision when outside. He loves being in our yard at the shelter and will happy, and quietly, sunbathe, people watch and play with his toys for hours.
Georgie has met older children and played well with canine friends. He radiates pure joy with his big smile and is the TOTAL package for a variety of families.

Boo
My name is Boo and I’m mostly a lounge act with a playful side. I made a name for myself on the streets and found a dashing older dog during my travels. I took the initiative and tried to move in with him, unfortunately his elderly owner wasn’t in the position to take in a younger gal like myself. However, I have since learned, the elderly woman and my current foster mom were in cahoots to end my gypsy ways. Turns out I happen to fancy being a house dog and one that excludes cats. There’s just something about how they skulk around acting like they want to play, but I discovered they are all frauds. They don’t really want to play, and they get all high and mighty when I try. Talk about mixed signals!
Anyway, I’m 3 years old, spayed, vetted, microchipped, house-trained and crate-trained and would very much like to have a family of my own. My foster friend got adopted, so life is pretty lonely nowadays. I promise to greet you every day with a smile and I aim to please. Especially if there’s a bully stick involved because those are my favorite! Boo is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Frankie
Frankie is about a year old and weighs 53 pounds. Frankie loves to be outside! On a walk, in the yard playing with his toys or just sunning his cute belly, Frankie loves the great outdoors. He has a great smile and loves to show it off to those he loves. Frankie would make a great dog for families with kids older than 12. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is current on his parasite preventions.

Percy Lou
Percy is a middle-aged girl who, along with her sister, was dumped at a local high-kill shelter after years of neglect and overbreeding. With the support of many, Percy and her sister were rescued by CARE Rescue. Unfortunately, her sister didn’t make it due to a cancerous mass. But Percy has received noninvasive medical treatment and is now just looking for a soft place to lay her head. Along with years of neglect, Percy is a bit overweight and is simply looking for a family who will treat her well. In only a few weeks, Percy has begun to show her true personality, and she is showing bursts of playfulness. But after a little bit of attention and activity, she is ready to go to a soft place to rest. If you are looking for a girl who isn’t looking for lots of activity, Percy will show you all the love a girl can. It is believed she is approximately 7 years old but still has lots of life. After first being dumped at a shelter which was loud and hectic, then going to Woodland West Animal Hospital for medical care, Percy is now seeing that humans can be caring, and she has made many new friends despite recently losing her sister. Percy is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.

Kiko
Kiko was found by a Good Samaritan as a stray dog. It’s thought that he was hit by a car from how he was walking. But after visiting a local animal clinic, the veterinarian believes he has been involved in a car accident in the past but he is now healed up. During further examination, the doctor found poor Kiko is full of buckshot from being shot at by horribly cruel humans.
Kiko has been in a wonderful foster home with another dog, where he loves all people despite having every reason not to be accepting. He’s ready to find his forever family. He will need a tall fence since his wandering days are over!
Kiko is what we call a gentle giant and is believed to be 6-7 years old. Kiko is house-trained and knows commands. He does well with other dogs, but as of yet, we are not sure about cats. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Kiko needs to be loved as much as he loves people and he is available for adoption through Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts.
