The Lincoln Park Conservatory’s popular holiday flower show has been canceled – another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The silver lining is that the hundreds of poinsettias grown specifically for the event — a process that started back in June — are now for sale to the general public, meaning a small piece of the show can still be enjoyed at home.

The sale kicked off Friday and a couple of varieties have already sold out. The remaining selection can be viewed online. Prices range from $10 to $45 for 6-inch to 10-inch pots. The theme for this year’s show was to have been “Champagne Toast!,” featuring a color palette of gold and dappled pinks.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Lincoln Park Conservancy. All plants must be picked up in person.

For those interested in learning more about poinsettias — their history, care and how they’re grown for the show — the Garfield Park Conservatory is hosting a free virtual talk on the plant at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9. Registration information can be found here.
