PITTSBURGH — Want to see some soothing flowers?
If so, Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens has you covered with its "Fall Flower Show: The Poetry of Nature" opening Oct. 10.
Guests will walk a tranquil journey, viewing vibrant colors and unique shapes from the natural world as autumn approaches.
Correlating poems about nature will accompany displays of thousands of chrysanthemums in a dazzling array of hues. Trickling fountains, topiary cranes and a tranquil waterfall add to the serene experience as mums paint the Pittsburgh site's glasshouse in vibrant autumnal shapes.
Opening that same weekend is Phipps' all-new Garden Railroad: Rails and Trails, a display with the sights and sounds of the miniature Phipps Biophilia Park. Featuring a pontoon boat cruising along a lake, an audience enjoying a concert at a band shell and all-new touchless interactive features, this exhibit aims to entertain guests of all ages.
Since 1894, Phipps has been creating chrysanthemum-themed shows. The annual Fall Flower Show is the longest running in the nation.
Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, from Oct. 10 to Nov. 1. Tickets must be reserved in advance; with opening week tickets available for presale now at phipps.conservatory.org/Tickets.
Keeping with Covid-19 protocol, masks are required of all guests ages 2 and up.
