Creating cut flower bouquets is a fun, educational, and creative way to spend time outdoors. This activity can be done alone, with friends, or with your whole family. Cuttings for your bouquets can be gathered from your yard, a local park, or even from the woods.
N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center is hosting a cut flower bouquet contest as part of the Fall Family Fun: An online fair event. No prior experience is necessary. To create a beautiful bouquet all you need to do is begin by selecting a container. Anything that holds water can be used as a container so be creative and think outside the box. Next, gather your flower cuttings and arrange them in the container that you selected. Then simply take a picture of your bouquet and submit it.
To enter, sign up for the Fall Family Fun: An Online Fair Event at https://currituckfallfair.eventbrite.com. Once registered, fill out the form Cut Flower Bouquet Contest. Each form requires you to include a photo of you and your entry. Your photo must include the bouquet that you or your group created. The bouquets will be judged in three categories: the use of color, texture, and overall creativity. A winner will be selected and a prize awarded for each category. It is possible to win more than one category. The deadline to enter is Sept. 25th.
If you have questions or need accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Chris Blaha at 252-232-2262 or email ctblaha@ncsu.edu no later than five business days before the event.
