TAMPA — Authorities are looking for whoever attacked a cat named Flower with a BB gun, fatally wounding her this week.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay told WFTS-Ch. 28 that several cats have been killed or injured in recent days in the neighborhood off W La Salle Street. The animal shelter said it is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who turns in whoever is responsible.
The humane society highlighted the plight of Flower, a cat who was shot multiple times, in a video posted to social media. The cat was found with multiple gunshot wounds, which shattered her right pelvis, damaged her colon and left a BB lodged in her left leg.
Flower’s wounds became infected, according to the humane society, which sent her into emergency surgery Friday. That’s where she went into septic shock. Veterinarians said they had no choice but to euthanize her.
At least seven cats have been shot, the humane society told WTSP-Ch. 28.
The humane society said that the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center and the Tampa Police Department are looking for whoever is responsible.
“If you have any information, we are begging you to please come forward,” the humane society wrote in a Facebook post.
There have been no arrests as of Friday, according to the humane society.
Anyone with information about the shooter is encouraged to call the Pet Resource Center at (813) 744-5660.
