The Waterman Lions express our appreciation to all who attended the 2020 COVID-19 Waterman Lions Summerfest and Tractor Parade held July 18. A parade of 67 tractors of all makes, models, shapes and sizes paraded through the village of Waterman as part of the modified 20th annual Waterman Lions Summerfest due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Summerfest schedule of events also included a drive-thru lunch, virtual draw-down raffle, spectacular fireworks and a drive-in movie held at Lions Park in Waterman. We feel very fortunate to live in a community where its citizens, nonprofits, civic organizations and businesses come together so easily to execute a never-planned-for-before festival of summer activities.
A special thank you to the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture and the hard work of their staff members. They partnered with us in planning and implementing the tractor drive to benefit the Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom program. We also thank Waterman Boy Scout Troop 139, Lions family members, village officials, and community volunteers who helped throughout the festival. And, of course we thank the tractor drivers for doing a super parade.
