Davis Flower Arrangers, a nonprofit, member-supported group of individuals who take interest in fresh-flower arrangements as an art form, announce the new 2020-2021 season.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month, September through May, and will be conducted via Zoom at least through December. Members should send the annual dues of $40 to Davis Flower Arrangers along with their email address to JoAnne Boorkman, 2205 Butte Place, Davis, Ca 95616 prior to Aug. 20, so they can receive the invitation to the Zoom meetings.
Members of Davis Flower Arrangers also will have access to the recording of the evening’s presentation. To receive assistance with using the Zoom program, contact Sundari Katir, president, at [email protected], for a personal tutorial prior to the Sept. 2 meeting.
The Sept. 2 meeting will feature one of the area’s renowned flower arrangers, Courtney Kett, of the Dixon Florist and Gift Shop. She is not only a talented flower arranger, but a great storyteller who reveals wonderful insights into human experiences while she creates stunning flower arrangements. Her joy, enthusiasm and kindness make her one of Davis Flower Arrangers favorite guests.
To add to the enjoyment of the evening, she has offered a workshop opportunity, which means, in the comfort of their own homes, members can create their own arrangement using the same materials she will use, while watching her presentation. She will provide all the locally produced floral materials and a vase for $20. The fee will go to the local small flower grower to help support a small business impacted by the pandemic. She will deliver the materials to a central Davis location where participants can collect their fresh floral bundle and vase on Sept. 2.
Anyone who would like to participate in this hands-on workshop should send a check for $20 to Davis Flower Arrangers and an email address to Jo Anne Boorkman, 2205 Butte Place, Davis, Ca. 95616, no later than Aug. 20. They will be sent an email regarding the pick-up site for the flowers and vase in late August.
