“The 2021 Macy’s Flower Show will feature magnificently landscaped gardens inspired by the feeling of hope for a brighter year ahead,” said Rick Pomer, creative director, Macy’s Flower Show. “ Give. Love. Bloom. will awe spectators, kicking off the spring season with an immersive, floral spectacular that will delight the senses. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors and pedestrians to our magical floral oasis where the resilient spirit of the city will be in full bloom.”

The iconic spring kickoff has enchanted generations of floral fans with whimsically themed gardens that showcase millions of live flowers, plants, and trees from around the globe. Native to many different landscapes, Macy’s Flower Show offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy these florals blooming in unison, despite their distinct climatic DNA. Taking root in unexpected settings, the florals bloom on store countertops, in display windows and specially designed architecture including grand bridges, columns, and topiaries. The 2021 Macy’s Flower Show will be staged in distinct fashion with socially distanced displays and several dazzling hanging elements.

For the first time-ever, guests will have the opportunity to explore a special extension of the show at Herald Square Park. Macy’s in collaboration with the 34 th Street Partnership will create this special outdoor oasis helping the neighborhood celebrate the spring season. Lush arches and planters brimming with bright hues will decorate the midtown park. Simultaneously, the world-famous Broadway window displays at Macy’s Herald Square will blossom with hope and love, packed with pretty petals in cool tones of purple, green and blue accentuated with a warm palate of pink, red and yellow.

Highlights of this year’s Macy’s Flower Show include:

The Kaleidoscope of Courage: Life grows on! This year’s show takes flight with a cluster of colorful butterflies fluttering under an aerial trellis of weeping pink cherry trees, colorama dracaena & rose red caladium.

The Basking Butterfly Bridge: Visitors can’t miss the larger-than-life butterfly with its gilded wings spread wide to reveal a body of bright blue delphinium, resting on a bridge blossoming with flowering almonds and lemon cypress.

The Aviary of Aspiration: In this sky-high garden, guests can spot birds perched around a brilliant birdcage bursting with colorful orchids, bromeliads and succulents surrounded by bridges flourishing with flora.

The Dragonfly Dreamscape: A dynamic dragonfly with wings of gold hovers on a bridge overflowing with gorgeous greenery dappled with red ranunculus, blue hydrangea and aromatic lavender.

The Open Nest Mobiles: Twirling overhead as spectators explore the show are intricate mobiles carrying cheerful clusters of yellow alstroemeria, orange roses & pink snapdragons.

The Positivity Promenade: Found on the store’s mezzanine, the butterfly lattice garden with bunches of echinacea & wisteria gives a bird’s eye view of this year’s Macy’s Flower Show while offering a peaceful moment for reflection.

The Conservatory: An interactive floral destination awaits as guests are invited to snap a selfie in front of living flower walls, pose for the perfect “wing shot,” check out the Designer Spotlight Series arrangements, and visit the interactive Believe wall.

Specialty Gardens: Golden butterflies perch on DINO, Sinclair Oil’s gleaming green Apatosaurus, as it towers over a colorful bed of yellow echinacea with light pink spikes of safari rose aloe and evergreen mugo pine. In a heart-warming scene from Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, majestic metallic elephants enjoy family time at the watering hole surrounded by bright orange clivia, fiery red begonias and lush ponytail palms.

Fashion Institute of Technology Designs

As part of a special initiative designed to give up-and-coming fashion design students the opportunity to showcase their remarkable work, Macy’s has partnered with one of the nation’s top design schools, Fashion Institute of Technology, to feature the unique designs of select students inspired by the Flower Show’s theme. The awarded student designers are Bryan Barrientos, Yawen Chen, Fatima Eroglu, Juan Kwon, Eunjung Lee, Jonona Mukhtarova and Vicky Zhang. Against a backdrop of vibrant purple and pink flora, the floral themed fashions will be displayed throughout the duration of the spectacle at Macy’s Herald Square.

Designer Spotlight Series

Additionally, this year’s Macy’s Flower Show will feature a Designer Spotlight Series, highlighting local New York City floral designers. Every three days a creative wunderkind will showcase a showstopping bouquet on the mezzanine of Macy’s Herald Square during the two-week run of the show. Designers featured include Petals by Dani, Polycarp Flowers, Flower Bodega, Brooklyn Blooms Floral Boutique and Park Delicatessen.

Flower Show Gives Back

Giving back to the community is a core value at Macy’s. Through this year’s Flower Show, Macy’s will create a positive impact with the Mural Project – inviting local artists to participate in creating a floral inspired art piece for the show. Additionally, following the Flower Show, Macy’s will donate select floral materials to local New York City partners, Grand Street Settlement and Henry Street Settlement to beautify their surroundings. Both organizations provide helpful services and programs to the New York City community.

Free to the public, Macy’s Flower Show will be open during regular store hours. Macy’s floral spectacular extends special thanks to its partners Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, Lifetime ® and Sinclair Oil Corporation.

CARY, N.C., April 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Specializing in premium-quality home, kitchen, and garden products, Walford Home is happy to be helping people add cozy farmhouse style and character to their homes with galvanized décor and accent products. The company has been highly praised for its product versatility and construction standards in all its products, most recently for its galvanized décor flower planter set for indoor herbs and succulents.

Having received solid five-star ratings to date, impressed customers have been eager to express their experiences with Walford Home products. One reviewer reports, "The product arrived exactly as the photos depict. The construction of the pots and tray are of very high quality. The pots have weep holes in the bottom."  The review continues, "The galvanized steel should last a very, very long time, and the spangle pattern is quite attractive. This product adds a very nice accent to my kitchen. I am 100% satisfied with this product and would purchase it again."

Another review states: "The set is absolutely adorable and I ordered 3 for my living room windows. They not only brighten the room filled with my flowering plants, the galvanized finish adds a shimmer of light and is a great accent. They are nicely made and came faster than expected. This is one item that I would highly recommend without any hesitation. I was completely pleased with this purchase."

Designed by the American family-owned business, the flower planter set for herbs and succulents includes three pots plus a tray with durable four-point connected handles, all made from heavy-duty galvanized steel, complete with a vintage finish. Quality protective pads on the underside of the tray protect surfaces, such as tables and counters from scuffs or scratches and are an example of a detail that sets Walford Home apart.

Galvanized steel is suitable for indoor and outdoor use due to its resistance to rust corrosion and exceptional durability. The pots and tray will hold up to normal plant watering for years to come.

"Crafted for indoor and outdoor use, you can create a flourishing herb garden in your kitchen, porch, deck, or patio," suggests Lawrence Barnes, the brand's senior spokesperson. "If flowers and herbs aren't of interest, our galvanized décor set makes an eye-catching picnic caddy, silverware caddy, or craft caddy with a down-to-earth, rustic feel. The uses are limited only to the imagination and reflect the versatility that is offered with all Walford Home products."

Wisconsin asks paddlers, hikers to report dangerous 'fig buttercup' flower - Duluth News Tribune

flower.indah.link

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking gardeners, paddlers and hikers to watch for and report lesser celandine, commonly called fig buttercup, an aggressive invasive plant whose showy yellow flowers are blooming now.

Lesser celandine (Ranunculus ficaria or Ficaria verna) prefers moist forest soils and is often found along forested riverbanks. It invades forests, wetlands and shoreland areas, as well as upland areas and disturbed areas such as lawns. It is poisonous to livestock and humans and infestations of this plant kill off native spring wildflowers in woodlands.

Lesser celadine is a prohibited species under the state’s invasive species rule. Prohibited species are those that are not known to be in the state or only in small selected locations, so containment is feasible. It is illegal to sell, transfer or transport prohibited species and they must be controlled when found on public or private land.

“Lesser celandine has been found only in a few areas in Wisconsin, and early detection is the key to stopping invasive species,” said Jason Granberg, DNR Invasive Species Specialist.

Most lesser celandine so far has been found in southern counties. The plant spreads primarily by vegetative bulbils, which are small bulbs, formed where leaves join the stem. They break off to float downstream or moved by rodents and form new plants.

Newsletter signup for email alerts

The plant is a low-growing perennial in the buttercup family with kidney- to heart-shaped leaves and showy, daisy-like yellow flowers very early in spring. Lesser celandine resembles native marsh marigold, but the larger marsh marigold has five to nine petals while lesser celandine has eight petals.

Submit reports of lesser celandine populations by emailing invasive.species@wisconsin.gov.

This New Faux Flower E-tailor Is the Best Place to Find a Unique, Affordable Mother's Day Gift - Travel+Leisure

Each product we feature has been independently selected and reviewed by our editorial team. If you make a purchase using the links included, we may earn commission.

At Travel + Leisure, we're dedicated to helping you find the absolute best products to meet your needs on the road and at home. The T+L Top Picks seal is awarded to items our editors have determined to be the best buys in their category.

In the spirit of 2021's unpredictability, gifting this year should suit the impulsive getaways of get-up-and-goers as well as the comfort of those staying put, and Afloral's gorgeous collection of dried and preserved flowers, grasses, and greenery is absolutely the way to go.

When I came across Afloral, an online retailer for faux flowers, I was searching for a floral gift for a friend. While faux flowers weren't what I was looking for, I was drawn in by the beautiful imagery of unique, brightly hued, and totally natural dried flowers. I saw they had the highly-coveted, Instagrammable pampas grass I'd been on the hunt for and for way less than other online stores I'd seen. For the sake of product research (aka my job), I had to try out ordering from the brand.

Afloral has one of the most unique and beautiful collections of affordable dried flora I've come across. For someone like me with a black thumb, dried and preserved flowers are the way to go when it comes to livening up your space. But if you're gifting for Mother's Day this year, a preserved bundle of lavender, eucalyptus, or banksia flowers will last longer for your recipient than any fresh bouquet will — and they're just as beautiful.

I was nervous about getting delicate dried leaves and flowers, especially pampas grass and the stiffened preserved flowers, delivered to my home. One swift knock of the box and I pictured every petal and leaf crumbling to the bottom, leaving an unpleasant mess for me to clean up. Much to my extreme excitement, every bundle that was ordered came in perfect condition — from the Dried Eryngium Sea Holly Flowers to the Natural Smooth Mauve Pampas Grass.

What's more, my cat has no interest in munching on any of the bundles I received, so I no longer have to deal with the petal messes, chewed stems, and eventual deterioration of cut flowers. Don't get me wrong, fresh flowers have their time and place. But with the cut flower industry's largely unethical sourcing getting more and more out of hand, I'll be turning to my Afloral dried and preserved plants for the forseeable future.

To buy: Black Dried Eryngium Sea Holly Flowers, afloral.com, $22; Dried Ruscus Leaves in Terracotta Orange, afloral.com, $30; Preserved Mixed Eucalyptus Bundle, afloral.com, $28

Newegg Expands Online Flower Delivery Just in Time for Mother’s Day - Yahoo Finance

flower.indah.link

Newegg, one of the leading tech-focused e-retailers in North America, continues to expand its business beyond the company’s core offering of technology products by taking the wraps off its new floral storefront. And while online flower delivery may seem like an unlikely fit for Newegg, the company is poised to disrupt the flower delivery category by flexing its efficiency of scale and ability to leverage preferred shipping rates to offer customers more bang for their floral buck. With a large assortment of fresh flowers under $50 and a number of products offering free delivery, Newegg is the place to shop for Mother’s Day gifts, including perennial favorites like tulips, roses, sunflowers and succulents.

Shopping online for flowers currently gives customers one of two options: either go with a traditional flower delivery provider that’s relatively new to e-commerce, or go with a digitally native floral business that has lots of flash but lacks the infrastructure and reach to deliver value to customers at scale. Newegg excels where both competitive models fall short and promises to give shoppers a robust assortment of the highest-quality floral products, delivered quickly with shipping costs that are tough to beat.

Newegg gives customers an online solution to send Mother’s Day flowers for quick delivery, while maintaining social distancing. With Newegg’s online flower delivery service, users can send popular Mother’s Day gifts and flowers, including pink carnations, calla lilies, red roses or tulips.

"As a mature brand in the e-commerce space, Newegg has the ability to pivot quickly and pursue market segments that are ripe with opportunity, and that’s precisely what we’re doing with our new floral offering," said Anthony Chow, Newegg’s Global CEO. "We plan to parlay our expertise delivering top-shelf customer experiences into the floral market, giving people a better way to shop for flowers, with all the cost savings and convenience associated with online shopping."

Newegg began testing online flower delivery earlier in the year, which enabled the company to validate market demand and fine-tune how it promotes floral products to its customers. The company now plans a much broader array of floral products for Mother’s Day, one of the most popular times of year to send flowers to loved ones.

Newegg’s earlier trials were insightful in that they validated demand for floral products within the company’s extensive customer base. Based on this strong customer insight, Newegg is expanding its floral portfolio significantly and fine-tuning how it markets floral offerings to customers shopping on the Newegg platform, as well as people outside the Newegg ecosystem.

Newegg is partnering directly with farms in the United States and South America, sourcing the freshest flowers and plants to ship directly to customers overnight. Shipping farm-direct enables Newegg to keep costs down for its customers, with quick ship times that ensure customers’ orders arrive fresh every time, for days or even weeks of enjoyment.

Woman arrested in caught-on-video attack on flower vendor outside California cemetery - KMID - Local 2 News

flower.indah.link

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) – A woman was arrested after allegedly attacking and then stealing from a man selling flowers over the weekend in Inglewood, California.

The assault Sunday morning in front of Inglewood Park Cemetery was partially captured on video. It shows the vendor, Ernesto Francisco, trying to save his flowers from a woman when she violently shoves him to the ground, picks up a bouquet and storms off.

Bystanders can be heard telling her to stop. “What’s wrong with you?” someone asks her.

Speaking to Nexstar’s KTLA in Spanish Monday, 28-year-old Francisco said he was still in shock.

Francisco said he was selling flowers when the woman jumped out of a bus and began assaulting him for no reason.

The assailant first yelled slurs at him before getting physical, with the entire ordeal lasting about 10 minutes, Francisco said.

After she grabbed his flowers, Francisco says she used them to strike him while he tried to keep his back towards her to protect his face.

All his flowers for the day were destroyed, Francisco said.

Inglewood police on Tuesday said they arrested the woman seen in the video, but officers could not be reached for further details on her arrest or identity.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Francisco financially recover.

Left shaken, he said he doesn’t know if he’ll continue to sell flowers, but he’s thankful for the bystanders who helped scare off the woman.
